#FreeTheNipple

Based on the time that we live in many would assume that everyone has the same rights and freedoms as everyone. While in many things this can be true, there are different consequences for the different genders. One example is being shirtless. While men are praised for being shirtless, woman on the other hand are condemned for it. That is where the #FreeTheNipple hashtag was created. The #FreeTheNipple was created and named after a New York filmed also called “Free The Nipple: How Far Will You Go For Equality?” For everyone who participates in this, their main objective is to stop people from objectifying the woman body. While many take the campaign seriously, there are others that take it as a joke or as a way to see woman naked.

With the hashtag there was been realizations of things that have been forgotten along the way. Many objectify the breast so much that we forget that it is a part of human nature. Mothers use it to feed their babies. However, there are many that do not even want this to happen in public. Those in support of the #FreeThe Nipple cause make of joke out of those rules. Overall I believe that the hashtag is powerful movement however it will take time or even be impossible for everyone to get on board since it is a controversial issue.

  1. I think this is an important hashtag because it shows how women are treated in this day and age. Even though we are all supposed to be equal, women are looked at like the weaker and less important sex. This hashtag shows that women are going to fight back and not be treated like dirt. I absolutely agree with you about how this hashtag is a start of a powerful movement.

  2. I think this is a really cool hashtag, and I like what it stands for. Hopefully we don’t see an overwhelming majority of comments like the one made by The Explanation^TM.

    Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
